Game Rules:

  • WASD to move.
  • Exact your revenge upon the human race for your froggy brethren.
  • Eat 10 (very tiny) people to be able to eat cars, until then, don't get hit (again).
  • Don't let the world catch up to you either!
  • Reach the end of the map to "complete" the game (about 30-60s).

This is a Game Jam Entry for GMTK 2023.
Theme: Roles Reversed.

Developer Notes:

  • Yes, the frog is a chicken.  Evolution or something.
  • No music or Sound FX was definitely, without a doubt, intentional.  We wanted to "reverse the roles" on you the player and have you make your own out loud, while playing!  Honest.
  • While it functions, this is the first "game" our team of two has ever implemented and published, and have very limited experience. We know it's not good, bland, and didn't end up being what we originally envisioned.
  • Jokes aside, GMTK 2023 was our excuse to take a stab at at development, and we are glad to have had the opportunity.
  • There should have been an actual (albeit simple) UI, but after exporting we could never get it to work in WebGL or Windows.
  • The "win" condition we couldn't finish in time either, so after you see a wave of trees, you've completed the game.
  • Our original idea was far, far more ambitious but had to be abandon due to lack of skill and realizing that what we planned wasn't exactly "fun", not with what we had or could do.  The long and short of it is that you'd not control the "frog" but the vehicles, and not for the frog's safety...
  • So, while we reused a tiny bit of what we had, ultimately we tossed most of a far worse project and cobbled together this together in about 6-7 hours starting early in the morning of the last day of the Jam.
  • We are very thankful for the art assets we were able to find here on itch.io.  Especially Gallet City by Adam Atomic.  The art direction rescued our attempt, as it helped us visualize what we needed to have a better game.
  • Lastly, while we welcome any feedback, we are very aware how unfinished this game is and that it's generic, lacking music, etc.  So please be gentle, but also feel free to have a nice laugh at how rudimentary and unfinished it is.
  • We are happy to have made the deadline, learned a lot, and hope to improve for next year.

Controls are super snappy, fantastic idea, and I absolutely love ramming into other cars! Some screams of the people I'm terrorizing would be a nice touch, but besides that I love it. As someone that has always been terrible at Frogger, Crossy Road, etc  I love this example of roles reversed. Great job!

Thanks mate!  We appreciate the kind words and great suggestions!  It was fun to work on so I'm wanting to hop back into fleshing out what we have.  If we make some good progress, I'll let you know.
